Sand media filtration is designed for surface water where algae, organic matter and suspended solids can challenge irrigation emitters.
Best for
River, canal and reservoir water, greenhouse projects and drip irrigation systems with meaningful organic loading.
How it works
Inlet manifold → Media vessels → Depth filtration → Automatic backwash → Outlet manifold
Water passes through selected media beds. Solids are retained through the bed depth before a controlled backwash removes the captured load.
When to choose it
Strong fit
Choose media filtration where organic matter, algae or surface-water variability makes depth filtration valuable.
When not to choose it alone
Do not select media filtration from flow alone. Limited backwash water, unsuitable pressure conditions or mainly coarse inorganic debris may point to a different first stage.
Technical selection data
Project selection is based on flow, required filtration degree, inlet and working pressure, connection standard, material compatibility, water analysis and control requirements. Published values are confirmed only in the project-specific technical proposal.
Typical system configuration
Parallel media vessels with automatic valves, manifold and control logic; commonly followed by disc filtration for final emitter protection.
Maintenance and backwash
Monitor differential pressure, media condition, backwash flow and valve operation. Media inspection and replacement intervals depend on actual water quality and duty.
